W/C 7th May 2012
Weybread Rejects 8 Pulham 2
The vistors to Weybread had to win 10-0 to retain the title but their hopes were dashed after the first game of the evening as Alan Clitheroe crushed Francis Webb 11-2, 11-3, 11-3.
Steve Pendle came back from 2 legs down to James Skilleter winning 9-11, 5-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-7. Dan Gigli, after winning the first leg 11-1 against Ian Brown was then beaten in the next 3 11-6, 11-8, 11-8 - a good win for Ian having lost to Dan in his last two outings!
An ephic battle took place between Gigli and Skilleter which eventually went to the wire with the latter winning at deuce in the fifth - 12-14, 7-11, 11-9, 11-6, 13-11. Gigli came back well to beat Clitheroe in 4 legs but the night belonged to Brown who beat Webb and Pendle in 3 legs.
When was the last time Pulham (or previously Harleston) got doubled in a season ??
Flotmen retain their trophy with an emphatic win over Palgrave Stars.
Palgrave Stars 3 Flotmen 15.
The evening got off to a tremendous start with Terry sharing the spoils with Kieran 18-25, 25-21 and also with Mark 21-25, 25-17, but from then on it was Flotmen who were always in control. Kieran beat Tom 25-23,25-24 and other games were close, but the premiership team always just had the edge.
David Leeder gained a consolation leg off Mark after the result had been decided.
A superb evening played in the best of spirits, but the better team won on the night and perhaps the handicap committee may make some adjustments for next year.
(I think perhaps the handicap committee will be making adjustments!!)
W/C 30th April 2012
Flotmen 12 Roydon 6 (semi final handicap match)
The second semi final of the handicap competition was a well fought night of Table Tennis.
Some excellent matches resulting in some fine rallies and shot selections.
The final result was a 12 games to 6 win for the home team Flotmen.
They press on to the final now to try and retain their title from last year.
W/C 23rd April 2012
Palgrave Tornadoes 10 Aslacton 'B' 0
An entertaining match despite the scoreline. Well done to Lewis for achieving a maximum against experienced opposition.
We believe Aslacton B are withdrawing from the league next season due partly to the loss of their venue and also to the 'retirement' of key players.
We have had some enjoyable encounters with their team and wish them well as they sadly leave the league.
Shotguns D 8 Palgrave Stars 10 (handicap)
A thoroughly entertaining evening which went to the very last game for a place in the final.
Palgrave started well and were 4 -2 up with both Tom Bailey and Terry Rayner taking full points in their first matches. The 'canny' Terry belied his age all evening making his younger opponents do all the running. With 2 matches to go everyone had scored points but the score was 9-5 in favour of the Palgrave Stars. Billy Howe then continued his good evening of 5 points with a great game against Tom, leaving the final match between Adam Whitehouse and David Leeder with Adam needing both points to take it to a playoff. Adam took the first game 25 -23, setting up a very nervous final game for both players. With cheers from Chelsea sealing an unlikely victory against Barcelona from the bar next door, Shotguns were unable to emulate the comeback with David Leeder winning the final game 25 -21. A competitive close game, played in an excellent atmosphere. Well done to Palgrave!
Shotguns C 7 Roydon 11 (handicap)
Brilliant fixture & the players Handicaps proved to be quite accurate as most games were closely contested. Marcus Hammond was the outstanding player for Shots C.
Alan Connelly for Roydon was in exceptional form and played very well to take a point from his match with Marcus and went on to take five legs won on the night. Shots C Ken & Peter both played very well & were involved in some great rallys & eventually shared the points evenly with their encounter's with Roydons Andy & Trevor.
Weybread Rejects 10 Shotguns 'A' 0
In the end this was a comfortable night for the champions elect as only Chris Jones managed to take a leg of all three Rejects players before the home side ran out easy winners.
W/c 16th April 2012
Golden Eagles 2 Palgrave 8
Palgrave Tornadoes are looking for promotion this season with one game to go they only need 3 more points.
A commendable performance for Palgraves' 16 year old Lewis Taylor taking 2 wins in 3 sets against Roland Purdy and Claire Williams.
Dennis Sore showed his class with three straight wins in 3 sets. Alan Worthington fresh from his Australia trip, took 2 wins.
Golden Eagles got 2 wins from John Williams who had to come from behind against Alan and Lewis to win in 5 sets. This left John to " knackered" to play the doubles which Tornadoes took in straight sets.
Shotguns G 4 Aslacton B 6
A great entertaining game with the match of night coming at the end between Barry Harbour and Robin Shaw going to 5 sets, which Robin fought back to win in the 5th, 8-11, 4-11, 11-9, 11-3, 11-9.
Both Chrissie and Tomasz played with valiant spirit but Nigel Barker was too strong for the home side winning all his 3 matches. The away team done well despite having one less player.
Weybread Rejects 10 - 0 Shotguns 'D'
A comfortable night for the league leaders with the loss of only 1 leg all evening with Andy Brand taking Mark Durham to 4 legs before losing 11-9, 5-11, 9-11, 8-11.
W/c 2nd April 2012
Palgrave Stars 12 Shotguns A 6 (Handicap Match)
Another close encounter with many legs decided with both players in the 20's. Terry Rayner played exceptionally well winning 5 legs as did Tom Bailey.
W/c 26th March 2012.
Flotmen 13 Aslacton A 5 (Handicap Match)
This was a much closer match than the final score suggests.
Kieran Brady was the player of the evening taking all his 6 games. Although both David Barnard and John Bryant made him work hard for his wins. Nigel Bowen went close with Mark Beswick, each winning a leg. David Barnard took 2 games from Stuart Cooper. John took one game off Stuart and lost out 24 - 25 in the second after being 4 points ahead. John again lost out to Mark, with Mark taking both legs 25 - 24.
An enjoyable evening with Flotmen taking the spoils on this occasion.
W/C 18th April 2012( played early)
Palgrave Stars 8 Thrandeston 2
Terry Rayner was again in good form for Palgrave winning all 3 games, although Kevin Smith did win a leg from Terry.
Kevin went on to beat David Leeder and Tom Bailey
John Pestell and Chris Willoughby also battled hard to no avail.
David and Tom took the doubles 5-11 11-6 11-7 11-9
W/C 19th March 2012.
Golden Eagles 4 Withersdale Bees 14 (Handicap Match)
Withersdale showed their premier league status with a comprehensive win over Golden Eagles.
The ever improving Kit Marsden got 3 of Eagles wins.
DC3 4 Pulham 14 (handicap match).
This was a valiant effort by DC3 against far superior opponents.
With 4 games ending 25-24 and 4 games 25-23, we could have seen a much closer result with a little more fortune.
A very enjoyable evening was had by all.
W/C 12th March 2012.
Golden Eagles 6 Dickleburgh Bombers 4
Jack Chenery showed what an improvement he had made throughout this season with another maximum for Dickleburgh. Even so Dickleburgh still found themselves on the losing side.
Richard Chenery Woods, an up and coming player for the future, put up a brave display losing against both John Williams and Kit Marsden in four sets. However in a close 5 set match Richard did beat Roland Purdy 11 – 9 in the fifth.
Another close match between Roland Purdy and Stuart Filmer could have gained the draw for Dickleburgh. Stuart battled to try to get his first win of the season however Roland came out on top in the fifth set in a very tight match,
11 – 7, 6 – 11, 9 – 11, 11 – 9 & 11 – 7.
Both John and Kit scored 2 singles wins a piece and Roland 1. The pairing of John and Kit versus Richard and Jack in the doubles turned out a 3 set winner for Golden Eagles.
Dickleburgh have shown a consistent improvement throughout this year and will be a team to watch during the next two seasons.
Shotguns F 9 Shotguns E 1
A good night for Shotguns F with only two of the games going the distance against Shotguns E.
Robin Shaw played really well and was unlucky to win only one. A good night for Peter and Trevor, and a rare win for Pat and Peter in the doubles was a bonus!!
Pulham 2 Weybread Rejects 8
This top of the table clash ended up with the leaders comfortably winning 8-2 in a match played in excellent spirit. Alan Clitheroe recorded another maximum, although Jason Evans and Steve Pendle both took him to four legs. Dan Gigli beat Ian Brown in straight sets, but then lost to James Skilleter 11-9 in the fifth. The game between James and Jason also went to five, but after being two match points down in the third leg, Jason fought back to win that leg 13-11 and then the next two games both 11-2. The game between Ian and Steve also went the distance, this time Ian came back from two down to win 11-9 in the fifth. The doubles was the fourth game of the night to go the distance with the Weybread pairing of James and Ian winning against Jason and Dan.
Palgrave Stars 5 Shotguns E 5
Another closely fought match with Nathan winning all 3 games including 5 setters against Terry - 11-9, 11-4, 9-11, 9-11, 12-10 and against Tom - 11-6,5-11,10-12, 12-10, 11-8. James & Nathan also combined well to take the doubles against David & Terry 12-10, 7-11, 11-6, 14-12.
W/C 5th March 2012
Golden Eagles 5 Thrandeston 5
A close match where 5 of the games went into 5 sets.
A maximum 3 singles wins from John Williams and a doubles win for John Williams and Kit Marsden earned Golden Eagles a draw against Thrandeston. Kit Marsden beat Chris Willoughby getting the 5th game.
Peter Buck and Kevin Smith for Thrandeston both got two legs but both narrowly missed out against John, both losing 11 – 9 in the 5th Set.
Chris Willoughby beat Roland Purdy in 3 straight sets ensuring the draw.
Dickleburgh Bombers 4 Palgrave Tornadoes 6
A youthful Dickleburgh took on a youthful looking Tornadoes team with some good matches. Natty Strange & Ted Ling started proceedings off and a close first set, 12-10, went to Ted. Natty got into the swing of things after that and took the next three, 11-5, 11-8, 11-7.
Ted warmed after that and although losing to both Richard & Jack, he took them both to 5 sets.
Dennis Sore stormed to victory in all three matches, just losing one set all night to Richard.
Lewis Taylor was a completely different player to one we saw last year, he has improved no end and deserved his victories against Natty, 11-5, 11-5, 9-11 & 11-6, and Richard 9-11, 11-7, 9-11, 11-6, 11-6. He'll be hard to beat next year, I'll be on holiday on those nights!
Finally, Dennis & Lewis took the doubles over Jack & Richard, 11-9, 11-9, 11-5.
It was a good night and some good matches. It highlights that we've got some good young players in this league, who are improving all the time
W/C 20th Feb 2012
Flotmen 0 Shotguns B 10
Some great games with excellent rallies throughout from all players with Shotguns B taking a 10 - 0 win to claim a resounding win over the Flotmen.
Palgrave Tornadoes 7 Shotguns F 3
Lewis Taylor playing only his second competitive match gave a good account of himself taking one set off both Peter Evans and Trevor Goddard. This is very encouraging for the future.
Shotguns C 0 Weybread Rejects 10
A comfortable win for the Rejects against a two-man Shotguns team. Pete Bowman took to Mark Durham to 5 legs before losing 7-11, 11-9, 13-11, 7-11, 6-11.
Palgrave Stars 9 Aslacton B 1
Unfortunately Aslacton 'B' were only ably to field 2 players but still put up a stern fight which is not reflected in the score.
Nigel Barker was in good form beating David Leeder but losing in 4 legs to both Terry & Tom.
the home team also took the doubles in 4 legs.
An excellent evening.
W/C 13th February 2012
Palgrave Tornadoes 10 Dickleburgh Bombers 8
Very close contest played out in a great atmosphere. The most pleasing sight of the night was the obvious improvement of all the Dickleburgh Team from last season - hope this continues.
Palgrave Stars 10 Shotguns F 8
A long match finishing after 10.30pm. An excellent performance by Tom Bailey in winning 6 legs and Rajiv Chaudharay wining 3.
An out of sorts David Leeder struggled all evening but just won a leg against Peter Evans to avoid a play off.
Most importantly the match was played in the best of spirits by all concerned.
Flotmen 15 Withersdale Bees 3
A decisive win for the handicap holders Flotmen. The visiting team Withersdale Bees put up a gallant fight only to find the Flotmen in fine form to gain the win 15 - 3
W/C 6th February 2012.
Aslacton ‘B’ 5 DC3 5
An exciting, enjoyable and friendly match played in challenging cold conditions with the match result resting on the doubles.
Nigel Barker won all his singles for Aslacton B. DC3 came back strongly with Peter Clarke and Graham Blake each winning 2 matches. Tim Clarke won 1 match.
This left Aslacton needing the doubles to clinch a draw, which they duly did.
Golden Eagles 7 Shotguns ‘G’ 3
Maximums for Golden Eagles players John Williams and Kit Marsden.
A battling performance from Claire Williams, called in at the last minute. She lost her three matches but did battle to deuce with Tamasz Kluska, before going down 18 -16 in the third set. This was the first win for Tomasz.
In the all ladies match Chrissie Clews notched up her third win of the season beating Claire 11 -7, 11- 9, 11- 9.
John Williams just managed the win in a close fought match with Robin Shaw.
John won the first two sets, the first of which could have gone either way, but Robin came back strongly in the third and fourth sets. John ended up taking the fifth in a close final set. 15 – 13 , 11 – 9, 1 – 11, 6 – 11 & 11 – 9.

Shotguns F just managed to keep ahead, with a very good result from Peter Evans who scored a maximum. Some very close games resulted in a match that could have gone either way.
Palgrave Tornadoes 5 Palgrave Stars 5
Sore rises to the occasion with a brilliant maximum
This was the first match for Tornadoes since the death of Richard Woods and the evening began with a minutes silence in his memory, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Dennis Sore had a superb evening winning all 3 games and beating Terry Rayner 10-12,11-7,7-11,12-10,11-6 in what was the most exciting game of the year.
Tom Bailey also played well, winning 2 games including a 11-9, 11-5, 11-6 win over Alan Worthington.
The home team won the Doubles to leave the result all even.
Golden Eagles 4 Aslacton B 6

There was encouragement for Golden Eagles when 15 year old Charlie Jarvis got his first win in the league with Roland Purdy in the doubles against Barry Harbour and Peter Venables
Weybread Rejects 10 Withersdale Bees 0
A comfortable win by Rejects in this local derby match with the loss of only 2 legs all evening.
Steve Griffee played well and was unlucky not to take his game with James Skilleter to the deciding leg after losing 7-11, 6-11, 15-13, 10-12.
The doubles also went to 4 legs.
W/C 16th January 2012

Adrian won 5 out of his 6 games to get his team to 9 all
He then went on to play the deciding game with Francis Webb which he won 25 – 22.
Palgrave Stars 10 Roydon 8
An excellent night of table tennis with Terry Rayner winning 5 legs, David Leeder 3 and Tom Bailey 2. For Roydon Alan Connelly won 4 legs and Trevor Cottee also won 4. Andy doe drew a blank despite an excellent performance.
The evening got off to a flying 5 -1 start with Terry beating Alan 25-16, 25-13, David sharing with Trevor 25-20, 14-25, and Tom beating Andy 25-18, 25-16,
Terry the shared with Trevor and David took both legs against Andy to make it 8 -2 before Alan pulled 2 back against Tom. Terry then won both legs against Andy to get to 10 -4. The remaining 2 games were won by Roydon. The result could have gone either way but the stars prevailed on this occasion to avenge last years sudden death defeat.
Flotmen 16 Golden Eagles 2
A decisive win of 16-2 over The Golden Eagles for the Flotmen in this first round handicap match and on the right path to defending the title they hold from last year.
Dickleburgh 3 Shotguns G 7
As we both had a free week, Dickleburgh & Shotguns G played the postponed fixture from last year. 3 players were looking for their first win of the season, so it was always going to be close.
Young Ben Wales lost his 3 games, but took a set off Robin Shaw and took Chrissie Clews to 5 sets with a tight game (7-11, 12-10, 9-11, 11-9, 11-5). It was an entertaining game and both players should be pleased with themselves.
That was Chrissies' second win of the night. The other involved another 5 setter against Richard Chenery Woods, Richard has improved a lot this season, so it was a very good win for Chrissie. Richard was able to get back in the swing however, for a great match against Paul Sturman which he won 11-6, 4-11, 12-10, 4-11, 11-9.
Pete Strange had a rare run out and was able to get his first win of the season against Chrissie. He also had a 5 setter with Robin, which Robin ran away with in the last set.
Dickleburgh picked up the doubles.
W/C 9th January 2012
Shotguns F 7 Golden Eagles 3
Another long night for Shotguns F, who managed a 7 - 3 win. Pat and John decided to play their game last, and after another marathon Pat managed to win 14-12 in the 5th.With Peter gaining 2, Trevor 1, and the doubles, a good result for the Shotguns F team.
Flotmen 3 Weybread Rejects 7
Some excellent matches played on the night with a 7-3 win to visiting team Weybread Rejects.
Kieran Brady played exceptionally well to beat James Skilleter, although Alan Clitheroe proved too strong for all 3 Flotmen players with some dynamic serving and power shots.
Thrandeston 8 Shotguns G 2
Out of the 19 legs that Paul Sturman played (including the doubles) he had 9 that went to deuce, of which, he won 5.
Palgrave Stars 9 DC3 1
The result does not do justice to the losing team who are improving all the time.
Terry Rayner played at his best and with David Leeder were pushed all the way to 5 legs in the doubles by Tim Clarhe and Graham Blake. Tim took the only singles win for DC3 beating Rajiv Chaudhary.
Shotguns A 10 - Aslacton A 0
It sounds like a crushing defeat for Aslacton but the games were a lot closer than the final score would suggest.
The game of the night was between Stuart Langridge and David Barnard. The games were fast and furious, there were some incredible shots from both players but particularly from Barnard. The game went to 5 sets with Stuart coming out the winner. 11 – 3, 6 – 11, 11 -5, 11 – 13 and 11 - 5
Barnard also has a close game with David Mortlock 11 - 8, 8 – 11, 11 -9 and 12–10. Barnard losing to Mortlock in 4 sets.
Chris Jones had a close match with John Bryant 11 - 9, 11 - 13, 12 -10 with Jones winning 11 -8 in set 4.
The doubles also went to 5 sets. Langridge / Mortlock v Barnard / Bryant. 11 – 8, 4 – 11, 7 – 11, 11 – 9. Shotguns A finally taking the 5th set 11 – 6.
So a good win for Shotguns "A" and a decent beer afterwards.
Aslacton "A" can take some solace in their performance on the night although a 10 – 0 defeat is what it is!!
W/C 12th December 2011
Shotguns F 4 Shotguns E 6
Although Shotguns E could only rustle up two players they still managed a good 6 - 4 win, with Pat West just pipping Nathan at the last with a 17-15 win in the 5th. leg. Match of the night was the game between Trevor, playing with his new bat, and James who went on to win 24-22,14-12, 12-14,11-9. With 1 game going to 5, and 5 games going to 4 legs with some very close results, it could have been a long night with a full team.
Shotguns 'A' 3 Weybread Rejects 7 (rearranged match)
Another excellent evenings table tennis followed by a beer afterwards!
Shotguns raced in to a 3-1 lead with Chris Jones beating Alan Clitheroe in 3 legs and then Stuart Langridge beat James Skilleter in 4 legs. Ian Brown easily beat David Mortlock before Jones took out Skilleter in 4 legs.
However the Rejects were in no mood to roll over as Brown beat Langridge and Clitheroe beat Mortlock both on 3 legs.
The game of the evening was that between Brown and Jones. Due to the lack of space in the Brome hall which did not suit Ian Brown, Brown went on the attack and took the first 2 legs. However he sat back in the 3rd and 4th legs where Jones took full control and levelled up at 2 legs each. Brown attacked again in the fifth and developed a healthy lead, which led to him taking the set.
Clitheroe beat Langridge and Skilleter beat Mortlock, both in 3 legs, before Clitheroe/Brown beat Jones/Langridge also in 3 legs.
Pulham 8 Flotmen 2 (rearranged match)
Game of the night was between Roger Crossfield and Stuart Cooper. Roger won the first leg but Stuart came back strongly winning the next two. Roger took the fourth and was 10-8 up in the fifth but could not take advantage of his two match points as Stuart came back to win 13-11.
Stuart also played well against Francis Webb, losing in four close sets.
With Francis and Jason Evans both scoring maximums it was left to Kieran Brady to win the only other game for Flotmen by beating Roger in straight sets.
Shotguns D 3 Withersdale Bees 7
Some close games made the evening entertaining with Withersdale Bees coming out on top. Steve Griffee winning all 3 points for them but was taken close by Billy Howe and Adam Whitehouse.
Shotguns D did go 2-1 after Billy beat Adrian Key and Adam beat Mike Smith, but Withersdale turned the tie around finally winning the doubles with ease.
Palgrave Tornadoes - 10 DC3 - 0
Sometimes a match result does not reflect the intensity and the competitive match play.
Every leg had a long rally with 8 ,10 and sometimes 12 exchanges.
D.C.3. should be well pleased at how they have improved their playing skills and in the not so distant future their match results.
The Tornadoes had to be at their very best to stay ahead.
Thank you for a very enjoyable festive match.
W/C 5th December 2011
Weybread Rejects 5 v 5 Roydon
This was an excellent night's table tennis and great advert for the game.
The match started off with James Skilleter taking a 2-0 lead over John Monk before Monk got his game together and went up several gears to win in 5 legs 11-9, 11-7, 7-11, 7-11, 4-11.
Alan Clitheroe levelled up over Alan Connelly in four legs before Stuart Gibbs eventually beat Ian Brown 9-11, 11-6, 11-6, 16-14 which saw some tremendous top spin drives from Gibbs being chopped back by Brown but Gibbs eventually edged it.
Skilleter beat Conelly in four legs but then Roydon won the next 3 games to take a 5-2 lead.
Clitheroe started to find his rhythm and found himself 2-1 up on Gibbs but due to poor starts in the forth and fifth legs the deficits were too much to pull back as he lost 9-11, 12-10, 13-11, 7-11, 7-11. Monk beat Brown in four legs and Gibbs beat Skilleter in three legs to turn the match in Roydon's favour.
But the Rejects had other ideas and the game of the night was Clitheroe's five leg win over Monk. He took the first leg with some quality attacking shots 11-7 and found himself 7-3 up in the second before Monk won the next 8 points ! The next 2 legs were shared before the pair found themselves at 10-10 in the fifth after Monk had saved a match point. A couple of aggressive shots from Clitheroe eventually saw him home.
Brown comfortably beat Connelly before Skilleter/Clitheroe beat Monk/Connelly in the doubles 11-4, 11-5, 4-11, 12-10 to tie the match.
Flotmen 9 Shotguns D 1
Home team Flotmen showing some dominance over the visiting team Shotguns D.
Billy Howe took the single win for his team in a very hard fought match against Mark Beswick
winning the deciding 5th game 11-9.
Final overall score 9-1 to Flotmen.
Shotguns C 4 Aslacton 6
A 2 man Aslacton team proved too strong for Shotguns C. Ken Bowman took a game from John Bryant in a close encounter, but that was the only loss for Aslacton. Peter Bowman took Nigel Bowen to 4 sets and Marcus Hammond took John to 4 sets. The doubles with Marcus and Peter v John and Nigel went to 5 sets with Aslacton running out winners 11 -5 in the fifth set.
W/c 28th November 2011
Shotguns D 1 Weybread Rejects 9
An enjoyable evenings table tennis which started with a pint of beer.Confortable maximums for both Rejects players, James Skilleter and Alan Clitheroe.Adam Whitehouse played the game of his life to beat Mark Durham in 4 legs, although the run of luck definitely went his way.
An entertaining evening unfortunately with the home team missing a player, however they were more than happy not to lose to a whitewash. Billy Howe looked like achieving the best result for Shotguns by taking a game off James Skilleter, but as expected James upped his game to take the match. Alan Clitheroe was in awesome form and neither home player could do anything but applaud the quality shown. In the final singles game however there was one surprise result with Adam Whitehouse beating Mark Durham in 4 games, putting in his best performance of his season so far.
Aslacton “A” 7 Roydon 3
A mid table clash between these two teams saw Aslacton come out on top.
Each of the Aslacton players won 2 games a piece. David Barnard was beaten 12 – 10 in the fifth set in a close encounter against Alan Connelly. David displayed some excellent looping forehands and back hands, but Alans’ wise head won out in the end. John Bryant was beaten in a tight match with Alan in 4 close sets. Nigel Bowen was beaten by Trevor Cottee in 4 close sets. Andy Doe failed to notch up a win on the night although he took one leg against Nigel, who then went on win 11-1 in the 4th set.
A good match between two friendly clubs with a deserved victory on the night for Aslacton.
Dickleburgh Bombers 6 DC3 4
DC3 visited a youthful Dickleburgh side who were looking for their second win and duly got it. Dickleburghs' Ben Wales lost all of his three matches, but should be pleased in taking a set off Phil Taylor and took Tony Goddard to five sets, finally losing 11-6, 5-11, 11-7, 10-12, 11-4. Jack Chenery had a clean sweep and played well throughout the night.
Richard Chenery-Woods had several epic matches and all of his 3 matches went to five sets. His first match of the night against Tony, which involved a 17-19 for Tony in the third set. Richard won in the fifth 12-10. His next match against Phil was another long tussle, with Phil's experience telling in the end, grabbing the last set 14-12. His final match against Peter Clarke ended with Richard winning by 13-11. This match had some excellent rallies and was most entertaining to watch.
The doubles went to Dickleburgh, 11-9, 11-8, 11-4. With the first two sets close all the way though.
W/c 21st November 2011
Flotmen 3 Shotguns “A” 7
A tough night for the Flotmen against a strong Shotguns A team with the final result being 7-3 to the Shotgun's. Kieran Brady playing very well to gain 2 points with Stuart Cooper picking up the third. Stuart Langridge gained the maximum for Shotgun's.
Shotguns E 6 Palgrave Stars 4
There was no report received with this match but I thought it worth a mention.
Sounds like a close match during which, both Terry Rayner and Adam Cork lost their 100% records.
These results are assumed from the online scorecard received; Terry lost to James Bridden who won all his three games on the night and appears to be making exceptional progress.
Adam lost to both Terry and to Rajiv Chandhary.
Nathan beat Rajiv and David Leeder. David failing to score a win on the night.
Palgrave won the doubles.
It appears that Shotguns E are making a good bid for promotion and have a game in hand over the team above them, Palgrave Stars.
Dickleburgh Bombers 9 Golden Eagles 1 ( First ever win for Dickleburgh)
Golden Eagles kindly swopped fixtures, as Dickleburgh could not make the arranged game on Thursday. The fixture started off to a great match between young Natty Strange & Clive Williams, where Clive grapped the first set 11-7, before Natty netted the second, also 11-7. This set had some great rallies, but experience held out in the end with Clive winning the next two sets 11-5, 11-5. Natty went on to win his next two matches and will be pleased with the way he played.
Clive was involved in the best matches of the night, losing a close game against Richard (12-10, 11-4, 9-11, 11-6) and Jack Chenery (11-7, 11-8, 11-9). Richard also won his first matches for the season. This was Dickleburghs first ever win in the league, so congratulations go to all who played.
Although losing all 3 matches young Charlie Jarvis got better as the night wore on and will be one to look out for in the future.
Thanks go to the Eagles for an entertaining match.

Palgrave Tornadoes 9 Dickleburgh Bombers 1
Jack, Richard and Stuart have certainly raiased their games and as a result all the Dickleburgh Players are progressing quickly. Look out Division One playerson return matches and especially next season. > Richard Woods
Flotmen 10 Shotguns C 0
A decisive win for the Flotmen over Shotguns C who unfortunately had a player short.
Some gallant fighting spirit came from Bill Pursehouse taking Mark Beswick to a 5 setter
but losing 11-8 in the deciding game.
Shotguns F 6 Aslacton B 4
A really good nights table tennis with some entertaining games.
A better week for Shotguns F with Pat West getting 3, Trevor Goddard 2, and Peter Evans 1.
With 2 games going to 5, and 2 going to 4 the result could have been different.
Pulham 5 Roydon 5
Palgrave Stars 6 Shotguns G 4An excellent close game with 5 games going to 5 legs.
W/c 7th November 2012
Shotguns F 3 Palgrave Tornadoes 7
Last years runners up in the league, Palgrave Tornadoes, with two of the top players in their team, proved to be too good for Shotguns F, who managed one win each.
Withersdale Bees 2 Aslacton A 8
A match much closer than the score would suggest. 3 games went to 5 legs and 4 to 4 legs.
Steve Griffee struggled a little in his first match back after suffering a broken big toe. The effects of this injury still evident. Adrian Key took a game off John Bryant. Mike Smith had a close match with David Barnard. Up to the fifth set it was neck and neck with some fast and furious hitting. However in the fifth set, David got into gear and won it 11-2.Nigel Bowen had a tight match with Mike but still won it in 3 sets. Mike and John had another 5 setter with John winning in the fifth. Withersdale went on to win the doubles. A good win for Aslacton.

Shotguns G 3 Golden Eagles 7
Robin Shaw won all his 3 singles matches. He could possibly be a candidate for the most improved player if he keeps up this standard of play.Golden Eagles took advantage of wins against Crissie Clews and Tomasz Kluska playing their first full season in the league. Both Crissie and Tomasz are improving. Crissie took Roland Purdy to a tight 5 set match but lost out in the final set, 13-11,9-11,11-9,10-12 and 7-11.Tomasz also had a close match with Roland but lost in the 4th set 13-11,11-13,8-11 and 9-11.The doubles went to 4 legs but was also extremely close 14-12,9-11,8-11 and 16-18. A tight match that could have seen Shotguns G grab a draw. Another good win however for Golden Eagles.
Flotmen 9 Withersdale Bees 1
Excellent result for the home team, Flotmen with a 9-1 win over a very hard fighting Withersdale Bees team. 3 games going to 5 sets and 3 to 4 sets with both Mark Beswick and Kieran Brady winning them all. Barney Garrod saving the whitewash for Withersdale Bees by winning his match against Stuart Cooper. Mark and Stuart partnered in the doubles against Adrian and Mike and winning the match in 3 straight sets.
Palgrave Stars 8 Shotguns F 2
An exciting match which saw Pat West take Terry Rayner to 5 legs before Terry finally prevailed and won the game.
5 other games went to 4 legs,as did the doubles.
Weybread Rejects 8 Shotguns B 2
Both Phil and Paul Mortlock battled well to overcome Mark Durham in 5 legs to take Shotguns' points on the night. Comfortable wins for the Rejects duo James Skilleter and Alan Clitheroe who then teamed up to take the doubles.
w/c 17th October 2011.
Shotguns F 10 DC3 0Another good nights table tennis. DC3 continue to improve - 2 games going to 4 legs - and will only get better. An enjoyable, good natured evening.
Flotmen 6 Aslacton A 4
A two man Aslacton A team made Flotmen work hard for their win. For Aslacton David Barnard played very well. The match between David and Keiran Brady was a fast hard hitting game, but a very close affair. Kieran coming out on top:- 11 - 4 , 12- 10, 16 – 18, 14 -12. Kieran was the only player unbeaten on the night. Mark Beswick won a close match against John Bryant 11-9 in the fourth set. John beat Edward Chambers. Aslacton came back from 2 legs down in the doubles to win 11- 7 in the fifth set.
Shotguns D 6 Shotguns C 4
This was the first home game for Shotguns D at their new venue in East Harling Social Club. It was a good nights entertainment with 4 matches going all the way to 5 games.
Kevin Gray scoring all 3 points for the home side, however a very determined Bill Pursehouse taking a game off him in their 4 game match. Marcus Hammond for Shotguns C battled back from 2 games down against Andy Brand to win and again took the honours in a open match against Adam Whitehouse. The evening could have finished with either team winning, especially as Bill Pursehouse found the 'home table' edges to his liking! However, Shotguns D were pleased to complete their first win in the premier league.
Pulham 7 Shotguns A 3
With Steve Pendle out of sorts,it was left to Francis Webb with an inspired maximum and Keith Hunt with wins over David Mortlock and Stuart Langridge to earn the win for Pulham.
Chris Jones won two games for Shotguns, including a five set win over Keith after being 2-0 and 9-5 down in the third.
w/c 10th October 2011.
Roydon Rebels 8 Withersdale Bees 2
First match at new venue The Scout Hall kicked off with Alan v Mike. Mike won the first on a tie-breaker but Alan won the next three. Trevor played Adrian in the second match. Adrian took the first two games both on tie-break, but Trevor reasserted his focus and won the next three. Andrew played Mike and with the exception of the second game going to a tie break lost 3 straight games! (poo sticks says the author!) Alan played Adrian and won three straight games and so did Trev against Mike. Andrews last match was the classic full five leg v Adrian who won convincingly on the final game 11-2(poo sticks again says the author!). In the doubles the first two legs went the way of Withersdale but a concerted effort by the Rebels took the final three games to win the match & fixture 8-2.
Golden Eagles 3 - Shotguns F 7
The evening started with an hour long epic match between John Williams and Pat West at 7:35pm. After 5 very long sets, the match finished with a victory for John Williams at 8:35pm.At the end of which John said he felt dizzy and unwell. John then went on to have a 4 set match against Trevor Goddard and another lengthy 35 minute battle against Bob Richards. Unfortunately this led to problems later when the Leisure centre at Long Stratton would not let the match continue past 10:30pm, its normal closing time, and the match had to be curtailed with the scores set at 4 - 3 to Shotguns F. In the circumstances John Williams had no choice but to concede the final three games when it looked as though his side were about to equal the score with Kit Marsden 2 sets to 1 up on Pat West( 11-8, 11-8, 15-17). Golden Eagles hope to find a more flexible venue so watch this space for further news.
Palgrave Tornadoes 5 - Shotguns E 5
A contest lasting 3 hours and 41 minutes with rallies of 10 and 12 shots. It was all so close and exciting. Advantage continued to swing back and forth, so the end result of 5 all was a fair reflection and accurate record of an excellent evening. Thank you and well done Shotguns E.
Weybread Rejects 10 Flotmen 0Comfortable win for the Rejects with only Kieran Brady taking the only leg for Flotmen in the first game of the night.
w/c 3rd October 2011.
Shotguns F 9 Dickleburgh Bombers 1.
Another good nights table tennis with the odds favouring Shotguns F, with an inform Peter Evans, and Pat West winning 3 each and the doubles, and Trevor Goddard winning 2. Jack Chenery showing how much he has improved since last season and will continue to do so this season, as will Richard, who is developing some nice shots.
Palgrave Stars 7 Golden Eagles 3.
An excellent match with many close games. Terry Rayner continued where he left off last year with a maximum but was taken to 17-15 in the second leg against John Williams.
On the night, 3 other legs went to 14-12 and 2 to 13-11.
A good start to the season
Pulham 10 Shotguns B 0
Jason Evans was on top form for Pulham, winning all his games in straight sets.Phil Mortlock was Shotguns best player, taking a leg off Steve Pendle and losing in the fifth set to Francis Webb after winning the first two.
w/c 26th September 2011.
Palgrave Tornadoes 8 Shotguns G 2.
This match was so much closer than the score would suggest.5 games went to 5 legs and 2 to 4.Holly with her devastating attacking play produced moments of brilliance, but the steady dogged defence from the Tornadoes just won through. Paul and Robin playing very cautiously, but with great athleticism, each won one game each.A very enjoyable evening,
Shotguns F 7 Thrandeston 3.
A good nights table tennis with the result not reflecting how close the results were, with Pat West winning 3, and Peter Evans and Trevor Goddard 2 each. 4 games went the distance with one ending 16 -14. Thrandeston just managed the doubles winning 15 - 13 in the final leg. 3 games went to 4 legs, with one ending 18-16 .Shotguns just managed to keep ahead. An enjoyable evening.
